Summer is the time to kick back and relax. As the days get longer and the weather improves, Madrid offers a whole host of events and activities to suit all tastes. The best music festivals, rooftop terraces and swimming pools, summer cinemas, traditional festivities...The city certainly doesn't rest in the summer months. 

A FESTIVAL FOR THE WHOLE SUMMER

Madrid has a large number of public swimming pools managed by the City and Regional councils. As the warmer weather arrives, swimming pools kick off the summer season as they open up in the middle of May.

THE BEST FESTIVALS

Artists like Rick Astley, Diana Krall, ZZ Top and Biffy Clyro will be participating in this latest edition of this outdoor festival (Complutense University Botanical Garden. 4 Jun-31 Jul).

Fourth edition of this festival that brings together the best Latin music, reggaeton, trap and hip-hop with artists like Anuel AA and Morad (Campus Cantoblanco-Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. 26-27 June).

Katy Perry, The Offspring, Amaia, Bomba Estéreo, Molotov and La M.O.D.A. will be participating in the latest edition of this heterogeneous Latin American music festival (Miguel Ríos Auditorium. 3, 4 and 5 July 2026).

The best summer festival will be celebrating its tenth anniversary in 2026 with performances by Foo Fighters, Moby, Florence + The Machine, Twenty One Pilots and Halsey, among others (Iberdrola Music. 8-11 July 2026).

The latest edition of the festival brings together leading national and international pop, Indie and electronic artists, such as Sugababes, Natalie Imbruglia or Fangoria (Caja Mágica. 18 and 19 September).

Another edition of this festival focusing on national music and the environment (Campus de la Universidad Complutense. 18 and 19 September).

AND OUR TERRACES....

As soon as the heat starts to kick in, Madrid opens up its terraces, on pavements or the rooftops of hotels and emblematic buildings.

SPORTING EVENTS

The Vallehermoso Stadium and its spectacular lime green track is hosting this international event that will bring together top athletes (Estadio Vallehermoso. 16 July).

Premier Padel is coming back to Spain with a P1 level tournament and the world’s top padel players (Movistar Arena. 1-6 September).Tickets on sale

After more than four decades, motor racing's top competition is returning to Madrid (IFEMA MADRID. 11-13 September).

The eighteenth edition of this fun run will follow a route around central Madrid (Start: Plaza de Cuzco / Finish: Paseo de Camoens. September 2026).

CULTURAL EVENTS

The largest musical production ever seen in Spain. Over 112 million people around the world have already seen it! (Teatro Lope de Vega. Tuesday to Sunday). Buy tickets!

An authentic flamenco show featuring mesmerising dancing, singing and guitar playing (Teatro Flamenco Madrid. Monday to Sunday).

The International Festival of Photography and Visual Arts is holding a new edition (Various locations. 13 May-13 Sept).

An adaptation of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s ballet featuring world-renowned dancers (Teatro Gran Vía. Tuesday to Sunday. 30 Jun-2 Aug).

For the first time ever, the Museum will bring together the eight paintings by the Spanish painter as part of a commission intended for the Museum of the Holy Trinity (Prado Museum. 13 Jul-4 Oct).

Relive the most traditional Madrid through the popular zarzuelas La verbena de la Paloma and Luisa Fernanda, among others (Teatro La Latina. Wednesday to Sunday. 22 Jul-6 Sept). 

The Yllana Company presents a selection of its best moments and comedy sketches (Gran Teatro Pavón. Wednesdays to Sundays. 19 Aug-6 Sept).

The phenomenon that is revolutionising the musical genre and conquering Broadway is now coming to Madrid with its energy and unique style (Teatro Gran Vía. Tuesday to Sunday. 12 Sept-8 Nov).

CONCERTS

The biggest and most successful K-pop group ever will be performing two concerts in Madrid as part of its world tour (Riyadh Air Metropolitano Stadium. 26 and 27 June).

One of the most important bands in the history of modern metal will be performing in Madrid, accompanied by P.O.D. and DeathbyRomy as support groups (Movistar Arena. 1 July).

The stadium will host the singer’s latest world tour in almost a decade, in which he will present his fourth album, The Romantic (Riyadh Air Metropolitano Stadium. 10 and 11 July).

The American rock band will be giving an exclusive concert as part of The Black Parade Tour 2026 (Iberdrola Music. 18 July 2026).

The Portuguese singer will be performing at Revolution´65 Festival, paying tribute to the city of Lisbon (Teatro Real. 25 July).

The American rapper, responsible for songs like Heartless and Flashing Lights, will be in Madrid to give his only concert in Spain (Riyadh Air Metropolitano Stadium. 30 July).

The Canadian artist behind great hits like Blinding Lights or Starboy is coming to Spain as part of his After Hours Til Dawn Tour (Riyadh Air Metropolitano Stadium. 28, 29 and 30 August 2026).

The American rock duo and winner of five Grammy Awards will be performing in Madrid 16 years after their last visit (Movistar Arena. 13 September).
