Veranos de la Villa is back in 2026 (7 July to 30 August) with its 42nd edition as one of the city’s major cultural events. It is a festival that transforms July and August evenings into an enormous open-air stage (a total of 72 proposals across 14 districts of the city), which are full of life and talent. The programme, in which memory and the avant-garde are in constant dialogue, will feature music in all of its forms, ranging from flamenco and zarzuela to symphonic music and tributes to great artists, along with dance shows, films, circus and an exhibition aimed at the most nostalgic.
The music programme includes zarzuela by the Community of Madrid Orchestra and Choir, tributes to ABBA and the soundtracks of James Bond, tributes to Antonio Vega, Miles Davis, Phil Collins, Édith Piaf or Billie Holiday, as well as performances by Ede, Alain Pérez, Diana Navarro, Fran Doblas, Lila Downs or Vanesa Coloma.
In dance, the world première of Concertdanza by Joaquín De Luz can be seen, with Vasko Vassilev and the soloists from Covent Garden in London, as well as the shows by the Indian dancer Malavika Sarukkai; Taranta Gitana with the soloists from Gipsy Kings, or the London City Ballet.
Flamenco will be present with figures like Farruquito, Jesús Carmona, Andrés Barrios, Dani de Morón, Sandra Carrasco and David de Arahal, José Maldonado, Kiki Morente and the Association of Flamenco Houses of Madrid.
A poster with Cibeles and Neptune
The painter and illustrator, Fernando Vicente (Madrid, 1963), is responsible for the image of this edition of Veranos de la Villa. His drawing presents Madrid’s two most beloved statues, Cibeles and Neptune carrying a violin and a guitar, respectively. It is an honour for this artist from Madrid, winner of three Awards of Excellence from the Society for News Design, to participate in a cultural event that he has known for so many years. The original drawings are painted in acrylic on paper.
