Cibeles de Cine Film Festival 2026 / Veranos de la Villa

The film series is back this summer to celebrate its eleventh edition with an extensive programme that includes more than 70 titles with great classics, cult films, seasonal hits and family films. The Glass Gallery at Cibeles Palace will once again host this series, which will be held from 25 June to 8 September 2026, and which is part of the programme of this year’s Veranos de la Villa festival.

After having brought together more than 45,000 spectators in its 2025 edition, the public will be able to enjoy a carefully selected programme for yet another year at this event organised by the Department of Culture, Tourism and Sport and devised and produced by mk2. The films are screened in Original Version with Spanish Subtitles, except on Saturdays, when the films are usually screened in dubbed version.

In 2026, Cibeles de Cine pays its own tribute to Spanish film. On one hand, the official poster, designed by Beatriz Ramo (“Naranjalidad”), inspired by Juan Gatti’s poster for Pedro Almodóvar’s Volver, the film chosen to open this year’s edition. On the other hand, the A Country of Pure Film photo exhibition, which brings together photographic portraits of some of the most influential figures in Spanish film, taken by leading photographers from El País. The programme will feature screenings of the year’s most award-winning and biggest box office Spanish films, in special sessions with the participation of some of the members of the production teams: Sundays, the big winner of the Goya Awards 2026; The Dinner; Aida, the Movie; I Won't Die for Love; Maspalomas; Bitter Christmas; Flores para Antonio; A Sucker's Born Every Minute; or the première of The Beloved, following its screening at the Cannes Festival.

Recent big box-office hits can also be enjoyed, such as The Devil Wears Prada 2, Project Hail Mary, Wuthering Heights, Michael or Marty Supreme. There will also be leading titles in the last season of awards and festivals, such as Sentimental Value, One Battle After Another, Hamnet, Bugonia, The Secret Agent, Three Goodbyes, Father Mother Sister Brother, Uncontrollable or Left-Handed Girl; as well as premières like The Drama, Disclosure Day or The Odyssey.

Cult film will be present thanks to the screening of Moulin Rouge (25th anniversary), Spirited Away (25th anniversary), Pulp Fiction, Dirty Dancing, Kill Bill. The Whole Bloody Affair or The Princess Bride. There will also be national and American classics, such as The National Shotgun (100 years of Rafael Azcona), Pan's Labyrinth (20th anniversary), Belle Époque, Cabaret, Vertigo, Manhattan, Stand by Me (40th anniversary), Breakfast at Tiffany's (65th anniversary) or Taxi Driver (50th anniversary).

As usual, Saturdays will be devoted to families with films like Toy Story 5, Super Mario: Galaxy, Minions & Monsters, Zootropolis 2, Shrek (25th anniversary) or Labyrinth (40th anniversary). This is the only day when screenings will be dubbed into Spanish.
