Founded in 1955 by the Spanish financier Juan March Ordinas, the Juan March Foundation is a family-run cultural heritage institution that develops activities in the fields of humanities and sciences. Inaugurated in 1975, the building is the work of architect José Luis Picardo.
Spanning an area of 18,000 square metres, in addition to 1,700 square metres of garden space, this modern cultural centre organises art exhibitions, concerts, a range of themed talk series and seminars.
The space also houses two different libraries. The main one, which serves as a research support centre, boasts an extensive collection of works focused on art and humanities. Meanwhile, the small courtyard space known as the Patio Library seeks to engage new and returning readers. Open to the public, it invites them to discover or rediscover timeless classics and contemporary authors alike, in an open, welcoming environment that trusts the reader's curiosity.
The foundation also features a cafeteria and a shop-bookstore.
