The Yllana and Töthem companies have created a musical show for the whole family, an artistic-educational offering that seeks to entertain and raise awareness of the need to recycle, through comedy and percussion. The show will be on at the Gran Teatro CaixaBank Príncipe Pío on 7 and 12 January 2026.
The show is about how four imaginative operators at a waste recycling plant give new uses to the waste that arrives at the site. They create a different and fun evening, using ingenious objects as instruments: drums, buckets, sticks, bottles, gas canisters, umbrella, balls, horns, rubbish bags…
The performers’ movements and humour make this so more than just a musical. They also manage to tie in different genres from Brazilian sounds to Arabic and Andalusian melodies, and even classical and electronic music.
And if that were not enough, the audience are invited to play an active role in the show, experiencing first-hand this unique way of learning to take care of the planet and reflecting on the excess consumerism of society.
Töthem is a recently created company, established in 2020, directed by Gorka González and Jony Elías, who, after working in groups such as Toompak, Mayumana and Yllana, decided to develop their own multidisciplinary project to explore their artistic concerns. Their debut show is this production jam packed with energy, humour, and musicality.
When developing this show, they worked with Yllana, a comic group established in 1991 and specialising in gestural theatre. Their shows have increasingly become masterpieces of silent Spanish humour. They have achieved acclaim for productions such as Splash!, 666, Olimplaff and Action Man, among others, performed in 44 countries and enjoyed by more than two million people.
