Teatros del Canal will host the second edition of Riesgo, the Community of Madrid’s Circus Festival from 12 February to 1 March 2026. It is aimed particularly at a young and adult audience and vindicates the drama of risk as the maximum expression of this art. The programme includes seven shows that will reveal the wealth and variety of this performing genre.
Today’s circus, whose essence concentrates a unique blend of artistic languages and trends, boasts a new festival in Madrid, which came about to bring the heterogeneity of today's circus closer to the public, broadening the collective imaginary and creating new references for this unknown art form.
The second edition kicks off with Play Dead by the Canadian company, People Watching. Its creators carry out a dreamlike experiment in which each artist's disciplines (juggling, acrobatics or trapezium) are combined, intertwined and merged with poetry and humour.
The programme continues with The Race by the Belgian group, Les Vélocimanes Associés. Premièred in 2018 in co-production with Cirque du Bout du Monde, its surreal atmosphere is full of strange characters performing sophisticated juggling.
Bürstner's Club is the Spanish contribution to the second edition of the festival. It is the first large-scale project by the DelsAltres Company from Valencia and is inspired by the community lifestyle of travelling circus companies.
On 21 and 22 February, it will be the turn of Pandax, a show with a road movie aesthetic by the French-Swiss company, Cirque la Compagnie. This will be followed by Si c'est sûr c'est pas peut-être (If it's certain, there's no doubt) by the French Takakrôar Company, which combines music, theatre and circus and enables the audience to enjoy complex acrobatics and major challenges.
Finally, the programme is rounded off with a performance of Le complexe de l'autruche (The Ostrich Complex) by Collectif d'équilibristes, bringing the second edition of Riesgo to a close.
