The flamenco dancer and choreographer, Olga Pericet, will be visiting the Sala Verde (Green Hall) at Teatros del Canal to present her latest show as part of the programme of the Suma Flamenca festival. She will be accompanied on stage by the guitarist, José Manuel León, the bass player, Juanfe Pérez and Javier Rabadán on the percussion, as well as Daniel Abreu as an invited artist.
La Materia is the name of the second chapter of the trilogy that Olga Pericet started with La Leona. A triptych inspired by the guitars of the legendary luthier, Antonio de Torres (Almeria 1817-1892). The flamenco dancer embarks on this journey to the origins of flamenco, researching the acclaimed instruments created by the musician from Almeria, who is considered to be the father of the modern Spanish guitar.
La Materia is also another link in Olga Pericet’s chain of collaborations with other creators for years. In La Leona, Carlota Ferrer was responsible for the stage management. In La Materia, she is joined by the dancer and choreographer, Daniel Abreu to co-direct, choreograph and perform a piece that transcends all labels.
The international creator, flamenco dancer and choreographer, Oga Pericet, has performed at the world’s leading festivals and theatres. In 2018, she won the National Dance Award in the Performance Category for “her ability to bring the different disciplines of Spanish dance together, updating them in an interpretive language with her own unique style”.
