On 1 January 2026, the Main Auditorium of the Teatro Real Opera House is hosting a special recital to celebrate the arrival of the New Year. A concert that includes a programme of Viennese operetta and waltzes performed by the Santa Cecilia Classical Orchestra.
The concert will be conducted by Kynan Johns, one of the best musical directors around, who throughout his career has led around 60 orchestras and opera companies around the world, including the Israel Philharmonic, the Rotterdam Philharmonic, the Cleveland Orchestra, and the Sydney Symphony.
The Santa Cecilia Classical Orchestra is one of the finest orchestras in Europe in its genre and usually gives around 30 concerts per season. It has been led by great maestros such as Alexander Polyanichko, Michail Jurowski, Henrik Schaefer, Andrés Cárdenes, Alan Burivayev and Donato Cabrera, among many others.
