On 17 and 18 April in the Sala Roja Concha Velasco at the Teatros del Canal, the prestigious French choreographer, Kader Attou, leader of the Accrorap Company, will première in Spain a dance show that has been designed for all audiences for the first time ever and invites spectators to reconnect with their imagination and emotional memory.
Attou, a key figure in contemporary hip hop in Europe, offers an outlook focusing specifically on the world of childhood with an evening that is considered as a sensory and dreamlike experience. Four performers lead spectators on a journey of various memories, far-off smells and objects filled with affection in a country populated by impossible creatures. The dance converses organically with music, illustration and video art, building a world in which reality and fantasy coexist naturally.
The sound dimension is by the composer, Régis Baillet, who regularly works with Attou and has created a lyrical and embracing score. The visual imagery is based on illustrations by Jessie Désolée, creator of a magical bestiary of monsters, plants and fantasy animals, while the video art by Yves Kuperberg rounds off the proposal with a hypnotic creation that reinforces the dreamlike atmosphere.
Magic, poetry, humour and virtuosity combine in this creation, appealing not only to children but also to adults who are willing to look at the world through fresh eyes, seeking to awaken forgotten dreams.
Born in 1974 in Lyon (France), Kader Attou is a hip hop director and dancer who founded the Accrorap Company in 1989. At the helm of this prestigious French contemporary and urban dance company, he stands out for addressing all aspects of breakdance. He is also inspired by political questions or musical productions when composing his works. In 2008, Kader was appointed as Director of La Rochelle National Choreographic Centre and is the first hip hop choreographer to hold this position.
