Ennio Morricone was the creator of some of the best known compositions and soundtracks in the history of film, of which he is estimated to be the author of more than 500. In 1961, he embarked on his career as a composer for the film Il Federale directed by Luciano Salce, but he rose to fame with westerns thanks to A Fistful Of Dollars (1964); For a Few Dollars More (1965); Once Upon a Time in the West (1968) and Duck, You Sucker! (1971). The music composed for The Good, The Bad and The Ugly (1966) is undoubtedly one of the most recognisable in the history of film.
He has worked with numerous international directors of the likes of Pier Paolo Pasolini, Bernardo Bertolucci, Giuseppe Tornatore, Brian De Palma and Oliver Stone, as well as two Spanish names who also stand out: Luis Buñuel and Pedro Almodóvar.
