The Spanish Ballet of the Community of Madrid will be performing three pieces that trace the legacy of Manuel de Falla, with music by Dani de Morón as the common thread. This production features Olga Pericet, Rafael Estévez and Valeriano Paños as invited choreographers and it can be seen in the Concha Velasco Red Hall at the Teatros del Canal from 4 December to 4 January, with performances from Tuesday to Sunday.
The production combines classical and flamenco, tradition and the modernity based on adaptations by the guitarist, Dani de Morón as the common thread. The show seeks to bring the greatness of Falla to new generations through today’s language.
The artistic journey begins with Seven Popular Spanish Songs, in the orchestral version by Ernesto Halffte, followed by Homage to Debussy and is rounded off with El Amor Brujo, one of the highlights of Spanish music. Each “station” on the route is penetrated with the music of Dani de Morón, which converses with the dance to offer new interpretations of these pieces.
The proposal is not restricted to revisiting the score: it also delves into the spirit of Madrid during the Silver Age, when Falla and María de la O Lejárraga created El Amor Brujo, integrating traditions from all over Spain and Latin America and the constantly renewed art of the gypsy population.
With this performance, the Spanish Ballet of the Community of Madrid lays a bridge between the past and the present: a tribute to the roots of the dance and music that inspired Falla, but also an invitation to discover new expressive paths in the 21st century.
