On 2 January 2026, in the Sala Sinfónica of the National Music Auditorium, Fundación Excelentia is presenting a recital by the Royal Film Concert Orchestra to pay tribute to the great composers Ennio Morricone, Hans Zimmer, and John Williams, performing some of their creations for the big screen.
Conducted by Fernando Furones and with the collaboration of the Sociedad Coral Excelentia de Madrid, the Santa Cecilia Classic Orchestra will perform a selection of songs from blockbuster films such as Gladiator, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Mission and Novecento, among others.
Ennio Morricone was an Italian composer and conductor who, during his extensive career, created more than 500 movie soundtracks and television series. The melodies he composed for The Mission in 1986 and Cinema Paradiso in 1988 are considered masterpieces.
Hans Zimmer, for his part, is considered one of the most influential and renowned filmic composers of recent times. Among this almost endless list of blockbuster productions are films such as The Lion King, Gladiator, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Da Vinci Code and Batman, among others.
American composer and pianist John Williams has a career spanning six decades. He is one of the most prolific composers of movie soundtracks, having written for films such as Star Wars, Harry Potter, Jaws, Jurassic Park, and Schindler's List. He has five Oscars, as well as 52 other nominations, four Golden Globes, seven BAFTA and 23 Grammy awards.
