The Madrid Association of Composers (AMCC) is organising another edition of the Contemporary Music Festival, COMA, based on contemporary musical creation in the city of Madrid, in which composers born or resident in Madrid present their works performed by great artists. In 2026, the concert series will be holding its 28th edition in the Concha Velasco Red Hall and the Sala Negra (Black Hall) at Teatros del Canal, with performances scheduled for 22, 26 and 30 September and 6, 13 and 27 October.
This edition features major new developments, such as new venues, collaborations with orchestras and choirs, such as OSUCM and ORCAM, exhibitions and many more surprises. A successful open call with more than 120 applications from various countries, has led to a diverse selection of soloists and ensembles. This latest edition brings together more than 22 activities.
Teatros del Canal will host six concerts with a wide variety of performances. The programme will kick off with a recital by the Atlántida Chamber Orchestra conducted by Manuel Tévar, and will be followed by prestigious ensembles and soloists. The Community of Madrid Choir, conducted by Javier Carmena, will once more be participating in COMA with a concert in the Concha Velasco Red Hall, where Sonor Ensemble and Anna Cabrera will also be performing.
The programme is rounded off with concerts by Spanish Brass (National Music Prize) and Joan Castelló and Eugenio Uñón (percussion) in the Black Hall. The festival will draw to a close on 27 October with the performance by the Ascot Quartet in the Green Hall.
