The flamenco singer, Carmen Linares, is giving a concert on 27 October in the Sala Roja. Concha Velasco at Teatros del Canal as part of the latest edition of the Suma Flamenca festival. The artist offers an exclusive première of her show, Antología de la Mujer – 30th Anniversary.
Carmen Linares is considered to be a living legend of flamenco and a vital artist to understand the Spanish musical culture and its evolution. Reflected in figures like Chacón, Pastora, Mairena, Fosforito, Matrona or Varea, Linares began her extensive career at the end of the 1960s in Madrid’s flamenco houses, where she shared the stage with Camarón, Enrique Morente or the brothers, Pepe and Juan 'Habichuela'.
Her milestones include being one of the first flamenco artists to perform at the Lincoln Centre, having been invited by the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. She has also taken El amor brujo and La vida breve to the stages of the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, the Sydney Opera House, the Shinjuku Bunka Centre in Tokyo, the Royal Albert Hall in London or the National Auditorium in Madrid.
