The Nutcracker - Kiev Ballet

The Kiev Ballet is back this Christmas with its colourful and emotional version of The Nutcracker, capable of transporting the audience to the magic and spirit of Christmas. The production will be staged at the Teatro Lope de Vega on 2, 3, 4, 5 and 19 January 2026.

The Nutcracker is one of the most performed and popular ballets of all time. The music by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and the choreography by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov combine to perfection to create a show full of beauty, magic and charm.

The ballet tells the story of little Clara, a small girl who receives a Christmas present from her peculiar godfather, Drosselmeyer, a nutcracker in the form of a soldier doll. During the night, she is transported to a magical world where toys come to life and the nutcracker turns into a prince. Together, Clara and the Prince travel through a fantasy world full of sweets and flowers, and they fight against the evil Mouse King.

It is a magical and enchanting ballet whose story has captivated audiences of all ages for generations. Its music and choreography are a celebration of beauty, fantasy and the joy of life.

The Kiev Ballet is based at the International Centre for Culture and Arts in Kiev, Ukraine. Over the last few years, it has travelled all over the world performing major classical titles as well as original choreographies. Shows such as Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, Don Quixote, Giselle, Carmen or Scheherazade are part of its usual repertoire.
