The acclaimed flamenco dancer, a living legend of the flamenco art, will be visiting the Teatros del Canal (Sala Roja Concha Velasco) on 29 October to perform a flamenco show, Sexteto Flamenco, that is a unique opportunity to watch one of today’s best flamenco dancers on stage.
After conquering the heights of flamenco dance, Juan Manuel Fernández Montoya, better known as Farruquito, turns his attention to one of his most undisguised passions: singing. The show is called Recital de Baile. With a simple approach, with no other pretension than to pay tribute to the flamenco voice through his own language, the artist from Seville will display his best version in an exclusive repertoire.
Born in Seville, Juan Manuel Fernández Montoya, better known by his artistic name, Farruquito, is the son of the flamenco singer, Juan Fernández Flores, "El Moreno" and the dancer, Rosario Montoya Manzano, "La Farruca". Heir of a unique school founded by his grandfather, Farruco, he made his debut on the international scene at the age of four on Broadway with the Pure Flamenco show, and at the age of 15, he appeared in the film by Carlos Saura, Flamenco, alongside his grandfather, “El Farruco”. When he turned 19, he was a triumph in the United States and since then, he has featured in numerous performances in Spain and in the United States, France and the United Kingdom, among other countries.
With his unprecedented talent, he has delighted audiences throughout his successful career, in which he has worked as a dancer, created his own shows and performed on stages all over the world. During his 2016 tour, he was recognised by The New York Times as “the greatest flamenco dancer in the world”.
His show is a unique experience, full of passion and emotion of the Spanish art. The artist combines technique, rhythm and expression on stage to delight the senses and take the audience to the essence of flamenco.
