As part of the latest edition of the Alma Occident Madrid series, the American alternative rock group, Wilco will be performing on 27 June at the Enrique Tierno Galván Park, in which it will review its greatest hits as well as new material.
Founded in Chicago (United States) in 1994, Wilco is a prestigious group whose line-up has changed frequently, but is currently made up of the musicians Jeff Tweedy, John Stirratt, Gleen Kotche, Mikael Jorgensen, Patrick Sansone and Nels Cline.
Its debut album was released in 1995 under the name of A.M. with a style that is closely linked to alternative country. However, the sounds have been modified on subsequent albums, moving towards experimental rhythms that play around with indie, folk rock or soul rock.
The group rose to fame in 2002 with its fourth album, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. Wilco won two Grammy Awards in 2004 with A Ghost Is Born in the category of Best Alternative Music Album and Best Recording. It also composed the soundtrack of the film Chelsea Walls, directed by Ethan Hawke.
