Los Valdés - Piano Giants / Veranos de la Villa

The Central Courtyard at Conde Duque will host the  Los Valdés – Piano Giants concert on 11 July as part of the Veranos de la Villa Festival, offering a review of the extensive work of Bebo and Chucho Valdés on two pianos, the father and son who have internationalised “Cuban piano” like nobody else.   Cucurucho, Bebo’s grandson and Chucho’s nephew, has inherited the unique talent of this family line. 

This concert with two pianos brings together three of the most representative pianists on the Cuban music scene in Madrid, along with Chano Domínguez, our most internationally renowned artist from Cadiz and a leading figure in jazz/flamenco piano. 

Four piano giants in all their glory, a concert travelling to Cuban roots and melodies, with all the power and energy of four maestros who will delight the audience in what is set to be a session and an “explosion” of music, virtuosity and absolutely unforgettable melodies in an evening full of duets and surprises.

Chano Domínguez (National Award on Recent Music Styles in 2022, nominated for a Grammy for Best Latin Jazz Album in 2013 and for a Latin Grammy for Best Latin Jazz Album in 2022), Pepe Rivero (pianist for Celia Cruz and Paquito de Rivera, and Latin Grammy nominee). Iván "Melón" Lewis, (Winner of the Latin Grammy in 2021 for the Best Latin Jazz Album) and "Cucurucho" Valdés (grandson of Bebo Valdés and Chucho’s nephew, who understands Cuban music perfectly and makes it his own).
