Swan Lake - International Classical Ballet

Teatro Gran Vía will host an adaptation of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s famous ballet performed by the International Classical Ballet from 30 June to 2 August. This production features stunning sets and world-renowned dancers.

It is a timeless fairy tale in four acts that premièred in 1877 at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow (Russia). The music was composed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and the original choreography was by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov.

Thanks to its beauty and symbolism, it has become one of the most popular and beloved ballets worldwide. The story revolves around Princess Odette, who has been put under a spell by the evil sorcerer Rothbart and condemned to live as a swan by day. Only at night, under the moonlight, does she regain her human form. Prince Siegfried comes across a flock of swans during a hunt and he falls madly in love with Odette.  On discovering her secret, he swears eternal love to her and promises to break the spell.

The International Classical Ballet, produced by Tatiana Solovieva Producciones, has been presenting high-quality classical ballet productions in Spain for over 30 years. It has won three awards for Best Dance Performance at the Teatro de Rojas in Toledo (2013, 2015, and 2018) and the Best Dance Performance Award in Vigo in 2008. The company is directed by Andréi Sharáyev, a dancer and choreographer with an extensive international career, having been a soloist in the National Ballet of Moldova and he has participated in leading companies and tours around Europe, America and Asia.

Tatiana and Nicolái Nazachevici, Elizaveta Sávina, Maria Litvínova, Alexander Litvinov, Cristian Preda, and Serguéi Iliín stand out among the company’s soloists, all of whom have trained and performed at prestigious theatres and schools, such as the Bolshoi, the Mariinsky, the Chinese National Ballet, and the Philadelphia Ballet. The company also includes Spanish dancers and graduates from the Milan Ballet School, rounding off a high lever international ensemble.
