Madrid City Council’s Directorate General for Cultural Heritage and Urban Landscape has organised the thirteenth edition of Madrid Otra Mirada (MOM) from 16 to 19 October 2025, which will focus on the 25th anniversary of the European Landscape Convention. Residents and visitors alike will be able to visit around 200 heritage sites free of charge, with a wide range of activities.
The registration period to participate in the 230 activities opens on Thursday, 2 October at 10am. Consult the leaflet to find out how to register.
Residents of Madrid and visitors to the city will be able to enjoy more than 200 cultural activities free of charge. This is possible thanks to the generous collaboration of all the participating public and private institutions, which have developed an interesting, comprehensive, inclusive and diverse programme, coordinated by Madrid City Council.
Madrid Otra Mirada (MOM), as a major celebration of Madrid’s cultural heritage, is also a wonderful example of collaboration between public administrations, as well as synergy between the public and private sectors.
In 2025, this initiative will be holding its 13th edition, and will yet again be breaking records in terms of both participating institutions and organised activities. In this way, 194 sites of great cultural and landscape value will be open to the public to showcase their heritage through guided and dramatised visits, concerts, conferences, talks, screenings, exhibitions, workshops or children’s activities, etc. A total of 230 free activities have been organised, making up a comprehensive and diverse cultural programme.
This year is the 25th anniversary of the European Landscape Convention, signed by the Council of Europe in Florence on 20 October 2000. Therefore, the major contribution of landscape to human development and well-being and, hence, to quality of life will be highlighted. Considering the significance of this regulatory instrument, Madrid Otra Mirada is joining in the celebration of its anniversary, incorporating it as a theme for 2025. In total, 34 entities have organised activities revolving around this anniversary.
21 new institutions will be participating in this edition, opening their doors for the first time so that they can be contemplated from another perspective. They include official bodies, such as the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation, the National Institute of Public Administration or the National Centre for Geographic Information; churches, such as the San Isidro Collegiate Church, the Monastery of La Encarnación or San Plácido Convent; theatres, such as the Teatro de la Comedia and the Gran Teatro Pavón; or other interesting buildings and places, such as the Telefónica Foundation, Hotel Casa de las Artes, the Royal Palace of El Pardo, the Oratory of the Casa de la Villa, Valdebebas Forest Park, the Civil Cemetery or the Faculty of Physical Sciences’ Astronomical Observatory at the Complutense University of Madrid.
