Every year Madrid hosts LesGaiCineMad, the biggest LGBTQ+ film festival in Spanish-speaking countries. From 11 to 23 November 2025, it will celebrate its 30th edition (dates to be confirmed), with a diverse programme of films exploring affective diversity.
Over the years, this event has become the go-to reference for Spanish and Latin American productions worldwide. Its efforts in discovering, subtitling, and premiering Hispanic-American films have made LesGaiCineMad a vital platform for LGBTQ+ cinema in Spanish, attracting distributors, buyers, producers, and programmers from international LGBTQ+ festivals. Spain’s cinematic history includes landmark LGBTQ+ productions from renowned filmmakers such as Pedro Almodóvar, Lucía Puenzo, and Julián Hernández.
The festival features competitive sections dedicated to feature films, short films, and documentaries. Winners are chosen by the audience attending the screenings, with two showings scheduled at different times for each film.
