The Central Courtyard at Conde Duque will host Kiki Morente and José del Tomate in concert on 20 July as part of the programme of the Veranos de la Villa Festival. The musicians bear two surnames that have shaped the history of flamenco and now they will share the same stage as the new generation, the “F.”
Direct descendants of two flamenco legends, they represent both the continuity of a legendary artistic legacy and the search for their own unique artistic voice. Kiki Morente presents Azabache, his most personal album to date, in which he combines his Morente roots and contemporary flamenco to pay tribute to his family and open up new sound horizons. José del Tomate presents Sonanta 3.0 “La herencia se transforma”, the stage performance for his upcoming album: a journey in which he revisits and renews the family legacy in order to find his own voice.
Each artist will perform his own set, showcasing his unique musical and aesthetic universe, before finally joining forces on stage for an unprecedented collaboration that promises emotion, passion and freshness. This joint concert is a dialogue between two major flamenco lineages that respects their roots while tracing a new horizon for contemporary guitar and song. It is a reflection of the evolution and living nature of flamenco.
Kiki Morente, flamenco singer, guitarist and composer, is the son of the unforgettable maestro, Enrique Morente. He made his solo debut at the Suma Flamenca Festival in Madrid in 2012 and has since established himself as one of the leading singers on today’s flamenco scene.
José del Tomate belongs to one of the most influential guitar lineages of contemporary flamenco. Son of the maestro Tomatito, he has grown up immersed in the musical tradition, developing a deep understanding of the flamenco language and an artistic personality of his own from a very young age.
