IFEMA MADRID will host the latest edition of this competition in Spain from 27 to 30 November, which consists of an eight-kilometre run and eight different workouts, whereby it is the first fitness tournament in Europe.
It is a challenge in which speed does not count for everything, as fitness is an essential part of the event. Before each workout (typical CrossFit exercises), participants must run1 km and all the workouts must be completely finished before moving on to the next run. The workouts to be performed are: Ski Erg, Sled Push, Sled Pull, Burpee Broad Jumps, Rowing, Farmers Carry, Sandbag Lunges and Wall Balls.
Participation is open to anyone with a minimum level of fitness over the age of 16. There are also three categories: singles, pro and doubles. These categories are divided into divisions by gender and age groups.
There are eleven age groups in the singles division and five age groups in the doubles division. On finishing, athletes will receive their personal best score and will be able to see their world ranking in the singles and doubles categories. The average time to complete the HYROX race is approximately one and a half hours and 98% of the participants complete the race.
HYROX has a number of partner centres in Spain, HYROX GYM Official, where you can train for the competition, and it also operates in eight countries, including Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States. The event was founded in 2017 in Germany by the hockey player, Moritz Fürste, the former director of Ironman and Upsolut Sports, Christian Toetzke, and the former director of Audi, Michael Trautmann.
