On 10, 11, and 12 April, Goblin Party will première a dance-theatre show in the Community of Madrid in the Sala Negra at Teatros del Canal, featuring live music performed by traditional Korean instruments. The performance includes the use of strobe lights.
Set in a mystical goblin market that only appears at dusk, the show invites the audience into a world in which everyday objects become treasures through movement and sound, in which emotions, memories and dreams are exchanged as precious goods.
The piece combines dance, imaginative storytelling and live traditional Korean music, offering a rich and immersive sensory experience. With its poetic and vibrant approach, the production blurs the line between reality and fantasy, offering a unique journey through the magic, rhythm and cultural tradition of Korea in the form of body and sound.
Goblin Party is a South Korean contemporary dance company renowned for its playful, narrative-driven and participative style. Founded as a company without an established artistic director, each of its members takes on the role of choreographer and performer, enabling collaborative pieces to be created in which each member contributes towards the design and the performance of the shows.
The group’s name and aesthetics are inspired by the traditional Korean goblins (dokkaebi), mythical creatures known for their playful and mischievous nature, which is reflected in its work. Its pieces combine dance, music and theatrical elements to explore cultural and emotional themes in a way that is accessible to audiences of all ages.
