On 29 December, Fundación Excelentia is putting on a special concert in the Sala Sinfónica of the National Music Auditorium to welcome in 2026. The Santa Cecilia Classical Orchestra, conducted by Kynan Johns, will perform a selection of pieces by great composers such as Johann Strauss, Hans Christian Lumbye, and Franz von Suppé.
This concert is led by the eminent conductor Kynan Johns, who be leading the Santa Cecilia Classical Orchestra in their performance of a wide range of lyrical pieces. The gala will include classics such as the Blue Danube and the Radetzky March by Johann Strauss, Carmen Quadrille by Eduard Strauss, and Hans Christian Lumbye's Champagne Galop .
Kynan Johns is one of the best musical directors of our time. He has conducted around 60 orchestras and opera companies around the world, including the Israel Philharmonic, the Rotterdam Philharmonic, the Cleveland Orchestra, and the Sydney Symphony. He has also been principal conductor of the Israel Chamber Orchestra, Ashdod, resident-assistant conductor of the National Symphony Orchestra of China and the Northern Israel Symphony, and resident associate conductor of the Australian Symphony in collaboration with the Australian Opera.
The Santa Cecilia Classical Orchestra is the private ensemble of the Fundación Excelentia. It was created in 2002 and has some 150 members. This orchestra has been led by great maestros such as Alexander Polyanichko, Michail Jurowski, Henrik Schaefer, Andrés Cárdenes, Alan Burivayev and Donato Cabrera, among many others. It is one of the finest orchestras in Europe in its genre and usually gives around 30 concerts per season.
