The dancer, Patricia Guerrero is premièring a production in the Community of Madrid on 4 April in the Sala Roja (Red Hall) at the Teatros del Canal, in which she faces new choreographic challenges and explores unknown sound and stage territories.
The piece is inspired by diverse works and authors who have had a significant impact on Guerrero in recent years. These pieces have left a mark on her life and have influenced the way she creates and expresses herself through dance. Concepts are taken from Beauty by William Wordsworth, To Duration by Peter Handke, Intuition by Henri Bergson or René Magritte. Each of these names represents an idea that has seeped into Patricia’s dance, such as beauty, time and surrealism.
Guerrero is the lead dancer in the show and she is accompanied on stage by Eduardo Leal, Maise Márquez, Gloria del Rosario, Ana Pérez, Hugo Sánchez, Ángel Fariña and Fernando Jiménez. They all move to the notes of the flamenco guitarist, Dani de Morón, the keyboard player, Óscar Álvarez Rifbjerg, the percussionist, Agustín Diassera and the flamenco singers, Sergio “El Colorao” and Amparo Lagares.
Patricia Guerrero is a flamenco dancer, who began with flamenco at the age of three thanks to her mother, the dancer, María del Carmen Guerrero. In 2005, she won the City of Ubrique Flamenco art Competition and at the age of 17, she won the Desplante Award 2007 in the Cante de las Minas International Festival. In 2010, she joined Rubén Olmo’s Company and went on to become the lead dancer in the Andalusia Flamenco Ballet. She also worked with the film-maker, Carlos Saura on the Flamenco Hoy show and on the film, Flamenco, Flamenco .
