The flamenco dancer and choreographer, Rafael Ramírez, presents Crónica de un suceso, a flamenco dance show with live music on 27 and 28 December in Nave 11 at the Centro Danza Matadero to pay tribute to Antonio Gades (Elda, Alicante, 1936 - Madrid, 2004) on the 20th anniversary of his death.
Far from being a biographic production, this artistic proposal uses the key moments in Gades’ life as a compass to explore his essence, his boldness and his innovative vision. With flamenco as the main theme, the performance crosses contemporary and avant-garde lines, leaving it clear that his stage conception is still up to date and powerful.
Rather than a celebration, this show is a journey through time, connecting what Gades was and what he continues to be for dance and culture. This is all carried out through a powerful performance by Ramírez, who is accompanied by live music by the guitarist, Isaac Muñoz, the percussionist, Javier Rabadán and vocals by María Mezcle.
Rafael Ramírez is a flamenco dancer born in Estepona (Malaga) in 1993. His talent and dedication have earned him significant recognition in the world of flamenco, such as the “Male Desplante” International Award at the prestigious Cante de las Minas de la Unión International Festival in 2021 or the Best Newcomer Award at the Jerez Festival in 2023.
Ramírez has taken his art to international stages, including a successful tour of the United States in 2023, where he presented Lo preciso. His home town named him as an “Honorary Citizen” in February 2024.
