The Spanish dancer and choreographer, Rafael Amargo is back on stage to present his latest show that combines flamenco, contemporary dance, urban dance and electronic flamenco music. This innovative and emotional proposal can be seen on 27, 28 and 29 July at Rooftop Lírico on the rooftop of Teatro Calderón.
Rafael Amargo, one of the most international Spanish flamenco dancers is staging his latest creation, under the name of ALÁ! IRÉ. This show revolves around Flamencograma, the artist’s latest album, and features unreleased tracks, poems by renowned authors and classics.
It is not to be missed by those looking for flamenco, live dance and cultural events in Madrid that are full of energy and emotion.
Born in Valderrubio (Granada) in 1975, Rafael Amargo is a dancer and choreographer whose shows have received numerous awards, among which four Max Awards for Performing Arts stand out: two for Amargo, one for Poet in New York and one for El Amor Brujo. He also won the El País de las Tentaciones Award for the Best Dance Show for Amargo and Poet in New York, which was also chosen as the Best Dance Show of the Decade.
Amargo usually merges dance with other arts, often working with painters, such as Luis Gordillo, sculptors like Esperanza d'Ors or photographers like Bruce Weber and Christopher Makos. In 2018, he won the Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts, awarded by the Spanish Government.
