The Madrid Planetarium reopened in 2017, after a state-of-the-art refurbishment undertaken by Madrid City Council and La Caixa Foundation. The revamped building features new exhibition areas and a modern, high-quality screening system endowed with powerful astronomy software for an amazing journey through the universe.
In the Projection Room, visitors can enjoy a range of full-dome audiovisual experiences. The full-dome video system creates a uniquely immersive effect, placing the viewer right at the heart of the scene. Live views of the night sky are provided by the Megastar2 planetarium projector, which offers astonishing optical quality.
The Planetarium also has a shop and bookshop where visitors can purchase stationery, gifts, educational and teaching materials, as well as a selection of fair-trade products. The bookshop includes an editorial collection specialising in astronomy-related titles
