The city of Madrid stands out for its extensive commercial offer in which there are also shops and establishments designed especially for children.  They are spaces where children can feel at home with products designed especially for them, focusing on fashion, accessories, toys or books, among other original proposals.

Curiosite (Corredera Alta de San Pablo, 28)

In the Malasaña neighbourhood, there is this shop selling original gifts and curiosities, perfect to take away something surprising. Its shelves are full of alternative ideas to classic gifts, offering all types of products.  The latest in design, cuddly toys of famous scientists, thermal t-shirts that change colour, rocket pens or led stools are some of its proposals.

Liberespacio (Calle Joaquín María López, 25)

Bookshop specialised in literature for children and young people, which aims to promote creative experiences in relation to books.  It stocks classic tales as well as more creative ones, along with books for babies in order to stimulate their cognitive, motor and emotional development. It is a space where events and festivals related to literature and children’s books are also held, as well as children’s workshops.

Hola Caracola (Calle Fernández de la Hoz, 40)

Walking through Chamberí, visit this toy shop where the most sought-after toys that are difficult to get hold of in other more commercial stores can be found. It stocks classic games from 20 or 30 years ago, which are still popular, alongside today’s trends, such as video-consoles and electronic games. Playmobil, Lego, Famosa dolls (Nancy and Nenuco), Barriguitas, Mariquita Pérez, Pin and Pon or wooden and tin games are perfect for those who are nostalgic who wish to interests their children in their own childhood, with products that awaken the imagination.

Circo Kids (Argensola, 2 / Jorge Juan, 14)

This concept store designed for children between the ages of 0 and 12 is presented as a different game space.  It is a shop selling gifts, accessories, fancy dress costumes and decoration for babies and children who opt for design with exclusive brands and an   ecological and solidarity philosophy. Its creator, Sofia, is a fan of healthy and free play and the traditional toy over technology.  It stocks handmade products with a careful design which are made in Europe and Made in Spain.

El Dragón Lector (Calle de Fernández de la Hoz, 72)

This children’s bookshop is an excellent place to sit down to look at tales and spend a relaxed time selecting our favourite one. In addition to boasting a select editorial collection, the shop regularly organises workshops and activities for children.  It is a place to foster the love of children’s books where children can feel free to touch and look through the books in order to learn to love them.

Tiny Cottons (Calle de Hermosilla, 17)

Known as the “brand chosen by grandparents for its quality, by parents for its design and by children for its comfort and fun” this children’s clothes shop has a concept store in the Salamanca district. It is a family-run company set up in 2012 which offers designer garments and the most cosmopolitan trends with quality fabrics, as well as textiles and recycled materials.

Atom Cómics (Fuencarral, 134 / Fernán González, 14)

Bookshop specialised in comics open to all, with two establishments in Madrid. In addition to a wide range of children’s publications, it has titles designed for young people and adults, making a visit pleasant for all members of the family.  In addition to comics, genre narrative and reading that moves away from the most common channels, the shop has a wide range of merchandise, t-shirts and board games.

La Mar de Letras (Calle de Santiago, 18)

This cosy two-storey bookshop is presented as the children’s territory par excellence.  It is a fun and imaginative space where you can not only buy books, but also enjoy activities to encourage reading, such as story-telling, puppet shows, live music , workshops and craft sessions.

Älva for kids (Calle de San Andrés, 17)

In Malasaña, next to the popular Plaza del Dos de Mayo, this children’s fashion and accessories shop stands out for collaborating with the French company,  Familib, which enables prams, cots and any other material for short stays in Madrid to be hired.  It stocks original clothing and practical and fun accessories for boys and girls ranging from new born to 12 years old.  It also stocks the leading international brands, paying attention to production quality and ethics, as well as environmental friendliness.

ElectricBricks (Paseo de Pontones, 23-25)

This establishment, which is the largest of its kind in Spain, is specialised in the sale of   Lego, Mecano and Nano Block pieces  is located in the vicinity of the Madrid Río Park. Children and adults alike will have a great time with its exhibitions of Lego creations, themed constructions, such as Star Wars, and reproductions of a medieval castle or a television studio.

For those looking for children’s fashion and accessories, there is a shop with original brands and designs capable of fascinating the youngest mothers in the Salamanca district. In addition to innovative and fun models, there are also classic outfits in pastel colours and the most traditional patterns (coats, bibs, playsuits, etc.). It is worth highlighting that they are also specialists in decoration and interior design.

Menudos Infames (Calle de San Joaquín, 6)

The bookshop specialised in narrative, Tipos Infames, has another establishment in the Malasaña neighbourhood, devoted to  literature for children and young people where poetry and graphic novels are the main features.  It is a large space to get children hooked on reading, with extensive book sections for all types of children.

Kamchatka Magic Toys (Calle de San Agustín, 18)

This small shop that sells battery-free ecological toys can be found in the Literary Quarter. Almost all of its products are handmade, in which materials like wood, cloth, cotton, and wool stand out.  It is undoubtedly an alternative toy shop that is committed to values, such as ecology, fun and education and bringing back traditional toys.

Lobo Feliz (Calle San Mateo, 28)

This shop’s slogan is “We are what we play” and it stocks educational toys from all over the world which have been made out of high quality materials in a sustainable way. It is a space full of fun which aims to stimulate children with educational and stimulating products (wooden bicycles, puppets, brainteasers, puzzles, see-saws…) so that they can develop all of their skills whilst having fun.

Caramelos Paco (Calle Toledo, 55)

In La Latina, Don Francisco Moreno Redondo opened this small food shop at the beginning of the 1930s, which, over time, has specialised in sweets and confectionery. A shop where children crowded around the shop window that was full of sweets.  It is a dream for children of that time and today, admiring the outside and the inside that are still decorated with sweets, bringing together tradition and innovation.
