The musical based on the famous novel by Maria Dueñas, El tiempo entre costuras (The Time in Between) is coming to Madrid, directed by Federico Barrios Fierro and produced by Dario Regattieri, with music by Iván Macias and words by Félix Amador. A story of love and war that transcends all borders, which audiences can enjoy from Thursday to Sundays, 15 May to 5 July at the Teatro Calderón.
A musical superproduction by beon. Entertainment, in which the author of the book, Maria Dueñas, participated as an advisor throughout the whole creation process. The creative team includes musical theatre professionals with extensive experience putting on great productions.
The story is about the young seamstress, Sira Quiroga, who leaves Madrid in the months before the start of the civil war, pursuing the love of a man she barely knows. They both move to Tangier, a worldly and exotic city where the unthinkable can become a reality, including betrayal and abandonment. On her own and suddenly responsible for other people’s debts, Sira moves to Tetouan, capital of the Spanish Protectorate in Morocco. Using a number of ruses and with the help of friends with dubious reputations, she forges a new identity in order to set up a select couture atelier where she serves clients from faraway countries.
An exciting adventure that takes us on a journey through maps, memory, and nostalgia, visiting the legendary colonial enclaves of North Africa, the pro-German Madrid of the immediate post-war period, and a Lisbon full of spies, opportunists, and refugees. A story that brings us haute-couture workshops, the glamour of large hotels, political conspiracies, and shady missions of the secret services.
