With more than 25 years of performances and a quarter of a century bringing the best American gospel to Spain, the festival known as Los Grandes del Gospel Madrid is back once more to celebrate its 31st edition (28 November to 13 December 2025) in the Sala Guirau auditorium of the Fernan Gomez Cultural Centre. At this latest edition, the confirmed line-up includes the Chicago Mass Choir, the Charleston Gospel Choir and the South Carolina Gospel Choir.
Los Grandes del Gospel is an unmissable gospel festival that takes place over the Christmas period, featuring several of the best international gospel groups, striving as always to deliver outstanding performances and create a connection with audiences.
The last edition of the festival held in December 2024 sold over 10,000 tickets (90% capacity) and featured performances by groups such as The Soweto Gospel Choir, The New Orleans Gospel Choir, The South Carolina Gospel Choir and The Mississippi Mass Choir, among others.
The 2025 edition promises to continue thrilling audiences and will kick off with 'Sweet Home Chicago' by the Chicago Mass Choir, known worldwide as ambassadors for gospel music, returning now to Europe with a concert that pays homage to their home town. Sweet Home Chicago takes a look back at classics of the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s, genre-defining songs from the Black neighbourhoods of the United States that have since captivated audiences around the world.
The South Carolina Gospel Choir, led by Reverend Michael Brown, presents Michael Jackson Happy Days, which includes a selection of deeply spiritual songs by the king of pop such as Keep The Faith. Their repertoire at the concert will feature hits from the singer as well as classic soul and gospel songs.
On 6 December, Oh Madrid Happy Day!! will feature Afrogospel by Madrid’s very own Coro Gospel choir. Led by Nigerian soloist, Reverend Amos Obasohan, with contributions by guest African soloists and musicians such as Mirabelle Kapnan and Dejikeyz (Ojekunle Ayodeji), they will perform a selection of gospel songs linked to this great continent, concluding with a medley of popular Nigerian Protestant church hymns.
Charleston Gospel Voices, made up of 14 members, is taking part in the festival with 'Every Sunday', recreating the music of South Carolina’s Black churches at a European Christmas, and the Sono Gospel Choir, an ensemble historically linked to New Orleans’ District 9, is returning to Europe with their 'Spirit Of Gospel Tour.'
