The musical comedy based on the amusing Gothic family is returning to Madrid thanks to beon.Entertainment and LETSGO. The Teatro Calderón will host this show based on the famous cartoons by Charles Addams and its television adaptations, initially as a television series and later as a film, from 18 September to 29 November, from Thursdays to Sundays. This musical will feature the well known actress, Natalia Millán in the role of Morticia, the elegant, mysterious and sophisticated mother of the family.
Following the success of Houdini, the Musical, LETSGO and beon.Entertainment will work together again on this latest musical production of The Addams Family, adapted and directed by Federico Bellone (The Phantom of the Opera, Cabaret).
The eccentric Addams Family has been captivating fans for almost one hundred years. It first appeared at the end of the 1930s, created by the cartoonist Charles Addams in The New Yorker. The family is made up of Morticia (an elegant, mysterious and very sophisticated mother), Gomez (an eccentric, passionate millionaire father who deeply loves his wife), Wednesday (the intelligent, sarcastic daughter who loves the dark), Pugsley (the mischievous son who enjoys dangerous experiments and his sister mortifying him), Uncle Fester (bald and funny), Grandmama (an expert in potions), Lurch (the tall, silent butler) and the ancestors… without forgetting Thing (a living hand that helps with household chores).
In 1964, ABC successfully brought them to television. Film adaptations came later, such as that of 1991 featuring Raúl Juliá, Anjelica Huston and Christina Ricci, Broadway musicals and contemporary productions, such as the Wednesday series by Tim Burton on Netflix.
The play premièred at the Ford Center for the Performing Arts Oriental Theatre in Chicago in 2009 and went on to appear at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on Broadway in 2010, where it was a huge hit.
