Mapfre Foundation. Recoletos Exhibition Hall

This space is dedicated to the exhibition of plastic arts created by various artists from the last thirty years of the 19^th century up until just after the Second World War. First opened in 2008, the exhibition hall is located in a building constructed between 1881 and 1884 by the architect Agustín Ortiz de Villajos for the Duchess of Medina de las Torres. 

The building originally consisted of a height of four floors and included a semi-basement, but in 1910 two towers were added onto the corners of the structure. After a series of refurbishment and restructuring projects, the building now boasts an exhibition surface area of approximately 1,000m², which is divided into three halls.

The Mapfre Foundation used to have another exhibition space in the city that was located closeby: Bárbara de Braganza Exhibition Hall. It was dedicated to the great masters of photography, but now remains permanently closed.
