Choreographer Ana Almagro will première a contemporary flamenco dance piece on 3 and 4 December in the Sala Negra at Teatros del Canal, which delves into introspection and the different stages of her own creative process.
The piece has been designed as a continuation of her previous show, Ana Almagro x ELAMOR, maintaining the dialogue between movement, sound and the flamenco tradition as a starting point in order to build a personal stage language.
The show explores the interaction between a choral ensemble and flamenco singing. The coming together of these two forms of expression creates an intense dialogue that addresses concepts such as memory, the boundary between sleep and wakefulness or collective imagination, examining how the intimate and shared are intertwined in the human experience.
Through this combination of voices and movement, the production offers a journey towards what has been left behind and what is yet to come, reflecting a continuous process of transformation and growth, in which flamenco enters into dialogue with other disciplines to open new channels of expression and reflection.
The production features the Ars Vocem Choir, conducted by Isaac Diego García, alongside the flamenco singing and directing by José Luis Hernández. The artistic cast is rounded off with Tacha González clapping and Irene Blanco on the vocals.
Having studied Spanish dance at the Pepa Flores Dance Conservatory (Malaga), Ana Almago completed her training at the Andalusian Dance Centre (Seville). She started out in the José Antonio Ruiz Company and the María Pagés Company and was a dancer in the Andalusia Flamenco Ballet, directed by Úrsula Lopez. She is currently a dancer at the Spanish National Ballet and combines this with her own creations.
A meeting with the public has been organised on 3 December at the end of the performance.
