The choreographer, Sharon Fridman will be premièring a contemporary dance show on 30 and 31 October in the Green Hall at Teatros del Canal, which arises as a reflection on the human condition and the need to preserve ties between people in a context marked by war, polarisation and the loss of certainty. The performance includes strobe lighting, full nudity, loud sounds and music and smoke effects.
Fridman delves into how violence transforms the way in which people see each other, up to the point of becoming symbols and diluting their human dimension. Far from focusing on confrontation, the piece champions the possibility of continuing to build meeting places. The production is built on the conviction that love, cooperation and care can survive even when everything seems to be pushing toward separation.
The choreography is based on INA (Improvisation, Necessity and Architecture), the movement research method that the artist has been developing for over 15 years, which explores how two bodies are capable of building a shared structure through listening, trust and interdependence. This search acquires a particularly intimate and political dimension, transforming the stage into a space where dance becomes an exercise of resistance against fragmentation. Throughout the show, spectators are invited to reflect on empathy, coexistence and the ability to continue building community in times of uncertainty.
Sharon Fridman (Hadera, Israel, 1980) is one of the most renowned choreographers in today’s contemporary dance. Resident in Spain for the past two decades, he founded the Sharon Fridman Company in 2006, through which he has developed his own stage language focusing on the connection between bodies, trust and the exploration of shared movement.
Presented on stages all over the world, his shows address questions such as social rights, cooperation and the human condition, earning him major national and international recognition, including the Max Award for Dance 2015.
