The choreographer, Sol Picó will première a contemporary dance show in the Community of Madrid, which explores personal transformation and female empowerment and can be seen in the Sala Verde at Teatros del Canal from 20 to 23 May.
The show proposes an “infernal striptease”, understood as an act of revelation rather than a superficial provocation. Shedding the emotional, social and identity layers becomes the focus of a narrative that calls on vulnerability as a driving force for change. The performance is created as a ritual of surrender, a leap into the void in which risk becomes the essential condition for evolution.
Far from considering the apocalypse as a catastrophe, the piece redefines it as a space for creation. Chaos, excess and contradictions find their place in a cabaret-style setting, in which the tragic and the festive go hand in hand. This duality enables the human fight to be addressed from a more human and complex perspective and allows for reflection on the need for reinvention in times of uncertainty.
Sol Picó is a Spanish choreographer and dancer renowned for her unconventional stage language, in which she combines contemporary dance, physical theatre and elements of popular culture. Having founded her own company in 1994, she has developed a career marked by the exploration of the body as a narrative tool and a strong stage presence. She has won many awards, including the National Dance Award in 2016, consolidating herself as one of the most influential figures in modern dance in Spain.
