Irene Tena and Albert Hernández, who make up the La Venidera duo, will première a modern dance performance on 17 and 18 October at Centro Danza Matadero - CDM that reflects on denial as a creative and regenerative force.
Through a poetic and symbolic narrative, the production proposes that denial is not an end point or a sterile absence, but a fertile condition that drives the search, intuition and creation. Both dancers explore the idea of “no” as emptiness, darkness, silence or disappearance, but also as a trigger for new questions and possibilities.
The piece forms part of the personal universe of its authors, who question their own artistic identity and career, and who face the present from a critical, contemporary and generational perspective. With a language that frictionally blends traditional flamenco and Spanish dance with the contemporary, the performance becomes a scenic and aesthetic investigation of art as resistance, transformation and memory. The production has received the artistic guidance of Marcos Morau, winner of the National Dance Award 2013 and director of La Veronal.
