The Teatro Real will host performances of an opera composed by Fernando Velázquez that challenges the figure of the hero through action and irony from 2 to 14 June 2026, with performances from Tuesday to Sunday.
It is a daring and original incursion into the world of opera by the theatre creators, Nao Albet and Marcel Borràs, presenting a piece that combines music, action and a deep reflection of the hero. Although the story revolves around a man's violent revenge following the tragic death of his only son, the production does not abandon the sarcastic, playful and meta-theatrical tone that characterises the work of the duo from Catalonia.
This is the first opera by Albet and Borràs and they have worked with the renowned composer, Fernando Velázquez, who is the man behind acclaimed film soundtracks. His participation is no coincidence: film language is a key factor in the narrative and musical structure of the show.
The production focuses on film stuntmen, those anonymous professionals who risk their lives in action scenes. Therefore, the show becomes a hyperbolic exploration of physical fights and male stereotypes, while questioning the grey areas of the heroic model that inhabits the western imagination.
With a score full of energy and cross-references between genres, the production offers an operatic experience in which music and the stage come together to break down the boundaries between theatre, film and opera.
