Three formal experiences. Nuria Fuster, Clara Montoya, Sandra Val

From 26 June to 26 October, the Centro Centro cultural space is putting on an exhibition exploring the visual language of a series of influential formalist artists.  Focusing particularly on Núria Fuster, Clara Montoya and Sandra Val, the exhibition brings together three distinct approaches to research on plastic sculpture.

Framed under the pretext of the book Naturaleza, Historia, Dios by the philosopher Xavier Zubiri, originally from Donostia, published in 1944, the exhibition aims to present, in schematic form, the formal experiences of three artists. It opens with a sculptural installation by Madrid-based artist Sandra Val.

It then takes you on a journey evoking an introspective experience of history and nature. The show concludes with a sculptural proposal by Alicante artist Núria Fuster, who blurs an animated universe and presents an alternative conception of objects. With the Romantic tradition on the table, the identity proposed evokes a philosophical tradition rooted in Spinoza.

Artist Núria Fuster (Alcoy, Alicante, 1978) works with discarded objects, questioning their purpose and exploring the empty space in sculpture. Throughout her career, she has received prestigious grants, such as the Marcelino Botín and Casa Velázquez scholarships in Madrid, and has won awards including Generaciones from Caja Madrid and ARTsituacions. Her work is regularly shown at the Juan Silió gallery in Madrid.

Clara Montoya (Madrid 1974) trained at the Royal College of Art in London, where she received the Thames and Hudson/RCA Award for Excellence in Sculpture, and at The Cooper Union (New York). Her work is included in collections such as the Reina Sofía Museum and the European Parliament. Meanwhile, Sandra Val (Madrid, 1979) creates installations that merge the physical and virtual, using materials such as porcelain and glass. Her work has been shown at international museums, and she has received awards at the Manises International Ceramics Biennial and in Korea.
