The Lavapiés neighbourhood will celebrate the fifteenth edition of Tapapiés, the Multicultural Tapas and Music Route from 16 to 26 October, in which more than 100 bars and restaurants in the area will participate with diverse culinary proposals to surprise those who come to sample them.
One of the world’s most diverse and international neighbourhoods is once more celebrating its popular tapas route organised by the Lavapiés Trading Association. For yet another year, Cerveza El Águila will be collaborating. The iconic beer is joining in the celebration by offering a tapa accompanied by a bottle or glass of El Águila for just €3.50. The programme will take place in the Arturo Barea, Nelson Mandela and Lavapiés squares, as well as in Calle Argumosa and Calle Miguel Servet.
The 2025 edition will feature the participation of the chef Lucía Grávalos as its patron. She is an advocate of sustainable cuisine and regenerative livestock farming from the kitchens of Desborre in Madrid, a restaurant recommended by the 2025 Michelin Guide. To kick off the 15th edition, the chef from La Rioja will demonstrate local tapas in the form of showcooking on 16 October at 12:30 p.m., which can be seen live on the @en_lavapies InstaLive. This year will also see the presentation of the new official Tapapiés 2025 song, selected by a jury.
With the participation of more than 100 bars and restaurants from Lavapiés, the programme also includes around thirty concerts, batucada bands, street parades and outdoor children’s entertainment at weekends at midday and in the evening. 18 national and international bands, such as Bossa Pra Vocé, Trío Amado Tango and The Lighthouse Keeper, will get people dancing to the rhythm of Irish folk, American rock, blues, jazz, Brazilian sounds, ethnic music, tango and boleros, among others.
A professional jury will choose the winning tapa for the First Prize (El Águila Dorada Award) and the Second Prize (Jury Award). The first prize pays out €2,000 (€1,500 in cash and €500 to be spent in local shops) and the second prize amounts to €1,500 (€1,000 in cash and €500 to be spent in local shops). The Audience Award is still the Third Prize, giving out €300 in shopping vouchers. Thanks to the support of Cervezas El Águila, Tapapiés will hand out a total of €3,800 among the winners. The awards ceremony will be held on the evening of 27 October at the San Fernando Market (Embajadores, 41).
