33rd Spanish Dance and Flamenco Choreography Competition

From 3 to 5 May, the Sala Guirau at the Fernán Gómez Cultural Centre will be hosting the semi-finals and the grand final of the 33rd Spanish Dance and Flamenco Choreography Contest. This event seeks to promote collaboration between flamenco artists and dancers with a view to strengthening this art form in contemporary culture. 

The contest has been held since 1992 and serves as a showcase for new performance proposals. The gala was created with the idea of providing incentives for an emerging creative movement within the genre. It has helped to establish this current of new flamenco dance, giving recognition and prestige to young performers of Spanish dance.

For more than thirty years now, this festival has been promoting the renewal and preservation of a living art form that is constantly evolving and maintains a healthy vitality.
