One of the most powerful bands on the rock-blues scene is due to perform at Sala But on 6 December as part of their new international Out All Night Tour.
The Sheepdogs started out as a band in 2006 at the University of Saskatchewan under the name The Breaks, a blues and soul group comprising vocalist Ewan Currie, bassist Ryan Gullen, drummer Sam Corbett, guitarist Jimmy Bowskill and Shamuss Currie on keyboards. Shortly afterwards, in 2007, they changed their name, but kept their style and sound virtually unchanged, releasing their first album Trying to Grow.
The band managed to land the cover of Rolling Stone magazine after winning a competition, becoming the first unsigned group ever to do so. Following this success, they signed with Atlantic Records and made a new album that won them three Juno Awards and started to earn them international recognition, while remaining true to the roots that characterise their sound.
The Sheepdogs’ style melds boogie with elements of psychedelic music, rockabilly and Southern rock, typical of the United States. Throughout their career, they have performed at major festivals around the world, such as South by Southwest in Texas and Edgefest in Toronto.
In February 2026, the band released their eighth studio album, Keep Out Of The Storm, through their own label, Right On Records. This album marks the start of a new chapter following Outta Sight (2022) and the EPs Paradise Alone and Hell Together, and also marks their first release without founding drummer Sam Corbett.
Several drummers feature on this new album, including Jordan Murphy, who plays on the track Nobody But You, alongside Trevor Falls, Adam Hindle, Steve Kiely and Dani Nash, reflecting a period of transition and evolution in the band’s sound.
