The Basque choreographer, Iker Karrera, is premièring a modern dance show that reveals the intimacy of the human soul on 26, 27 and 28 April at the Conde Duque Cultural Centre.
The show features performances by Carla Diego, Katalin Arana, Marc López, Raymond Naval and Serena Pomer. They all represent a fusion of introspection and artistic expression in which Karrera crosses the boundaries of the conventional stage, inviting the audience to enter the deepest corners of their being.
In this way, a journey into the interior of each individual is created, highlighting feelings and emotions. Karrera seeks to convey the complexity of the human emotional landscape through dance and movement, creating a captivating and revealing theatre performance.
The production is a new milestone in Karrera’s career, having previously excelled in musicals and television, whereby he was responsible for choreographing Mamma Mia! or some seasons of the programme Fame. Let’s Dance!.
The Room Where It Happens not only showcases Iker Karrera’s artistic talent, but is also a reminder of the importance of delving into the inner world of the human being and sharing this experience with others. In an ever more frenetic and disconnected society, the show invites the audience to stop and reflect and observe their own feelings.
Born in Hondarribia (Guipúzcoa), Iker Karrera started taking jazz and hip hop classes at a very young age. At the age of 18, he moved to Madrid, where he graduated in Audiovisual Communication from Carlos III University in Madrid and trained in classical and contemporary dance. He has worked in Paris (France) for artists like Céline Dion and he has created productions, such as #7fm, Las Otras Piezas and No Pleasure. He has also been teaching contemporary dance and jazzfunk nationally and internationally for more than 15 years.
