The Madrid side will play against the Austrian team, LASK (Linzer Athletik-Sport-Klub) from Linz on 19 January at the Bernabéu Stadium in another match of the group phase of the UEFA Champions League.
LASK was crowned champion in Austria and also won the Cup in the 2025–26 season, before featuring in a dramatic comeback against Celtic to enter the Champions League group phase for the first time.
This season, the UEFA Champions League will follow the same format, with 36 teams participating in the league phase, each playing eight matches against eight different teams. On completion of this stage, the top eight teams will go directly into the Round of Sixteen. The teams ranked 9th to 24th will go to two-leg play-offs. Finally, those ranked 25th to 36th will be eliminated from the competition.
