After an absence of seven years, the acclaimed British alternative rock band, Radiohead, will be embarking on a new European tour that will be stopping off at the Movistar Arena with four concerts on 4, 5, 6 and 7 November. It will be the first series of live performances by the British group after a break of seven years.
The announcement was made in parallel with the release of the album Hail to the Thief (Live Recordings 2003–2009), a compilation of recordings made during various tours at the turn of the century. The band has explained that it resumed rehearsals last year in order to reconnect musically after a long period apart. This meeting led to the decision to give a series of live performances without confirming whether there will be more dates in the future.
Radiohead, which got together in 1985 in Abingdon-on-Thames, is one of the contemporary alternative rock references with iconic albums, such as OK Computer and Kid A. The band is made up of Thom Yorke (vocals, guitar, piano), Jonny Greenwood (lead guitar, keyboards, other instruments), Ed O'Brien (guitar, backing vocals), Colin Greenwood (bass, keyboards) and Phil Selway (drums, percussion).
They released their first single Creep in 1992, which became a global hit following the launch of their debut album, Pablo Honey (1993) due to the boom in alternative rock. Their next albums Kid A (2000) and Amnesiac (2001) represented an evolution in their musical style, by incorporating electronic, experimental and classical music from the 20th century, trip-hop and cool jazz.
Their latest studio album, A Moon Shaped Pool, was released in 2016. Since then, the members have been involved in different parallel projects, such as the band, The Smile. Now, they are back on stage with a very special tour which will include hits like Creep, Let Down, No Surprises, All I Need, Karma Police and Fake Plastic Trees, among many others.
