The Malasaña neighbourhood is once more the epicentre of urban art. This is thanks to local businesses, neighbours and associations who are lending their spaces to more than 100 artists, allowing them to take their creations to the streets. 2026 marks the 11th edition of this festival which takes place on Sunday, 26 April.
Every year, the organisers of this initiative (the local newspaper Somos Malasaña and the Madrid Street Art Project association) select the participating artists through an open competition. Both national and international participants can send in submissions, driven by the possibility of showcasing their talent in open urban spaces in the centre of Madrid.
Passers-by can observe as the artists simultaneously create their artworks on the façades and shutters of buildings throughout Malasaña. In fact, the public can even get involved by helping to select the recipient of the Best Artwork award, or by taking part in workshops and other activities on the day.
