From 23 July to 10 January 2027, the National Library is hosting the exhibition Pedro Moreno. Pro domo sua. Theatre and film art, a comprehensive retrospective dedicated to one of the great pioneers of Spanish stage design
The exhibition offers a narrative journey through the life and artistic career of Pedro Moreno, winner of a National Theatre Award and recipient of several Max and Goya Awards for his work in theatre and film. The itinerary traces his career from its beginnings in haute couture during the 1960s, under the influence of Elio Berhanyer, to his establishment as a costume and set designer for theatre, dance and film.
Through his sketches, designs, original works and documentary materials, the exhibition offers an insight into both the breadth of his artistic output and the creative processes that have shaped his unique visual world. The exhibition is structured around various key points that help visitors to understand his aesthetic concept and the way he ‘tells stories’ through costumes and set design.
Furthermore, the exhibition features testimonies from leading figures on the Spanish cultural scene, such as José Carlos Plaza, Ana Belén, Víctor Ullate and Emma Suárez, who share their views on Moreno’s work and artistic personality.
