The acclaimed American guitarist will appear on stage at the Complutense University Botanical Gardens (Real Jardín Botánico Alfonso XIII) on 26 July to present his latest album Side – Eye III (2026). The performance, which forms part of Noches del Botánico, the cycle with an extensive programme of concerts.
He began playing the trumpet at the age of 8, influenced by his brother, but soon went on to play the guitar. By the age of 15, he was already working alongside the best jazz musicians in Kansas City. His debut came in 1974, on the Jaco album, by another debutant: Jaco Pastorius. He has played with artists, such as John Scofield, David Bowie, Carlos Santana or Herbie Hancock.
Considered to be one of the most influential guitarists in the past 30 years, Pat Metheny boasts 20 Grammy Awards and is the only musician to have won an award in 10 different categories.
