On 10 and 11 June, the Conde Duque Cultural Centre is hosting the Madrid première of this modern dance performance directed by Juliana Reyes, which reflects on life, death and the cycles of existence through the real bond between a mother and her daughter.
The production emerges from the desire to consider the 'origin' not only as a philosophical concept, but as living, bodily, sensitive material. The creative process was marked by certain key universal questions: Where do we come from? Where are we going? Does life end or transform? This circumstance led to the inclusion of Paloma de la Cruz, the mother of Paloma Hurtado, the dancer who performs the show, establishing a real relationship between mother and daughter as the dramatic axis of the piece.
On stage, bodies are shown in their rawest, most natural state. Paloma, a professional choreographer, shares the space with her mother, someone who is outside the world of performing arts, creating a physical dialogue between youth and maturity. Furthermore, the caregiving roles are reversed: the daughter, who has been guided by her mother throughout her life, now becomes her mother’s companion and support on the stage.
Through movement, fragility and encounters, the production addresses life and death as inseparable parts of the same natural cycle. All without giving any definite conclusions, inviting audiences to observe how matter is constructed, released and transformed, time and time again, in a continuous process of falling and rebirth.
